Holy Tornado!

Last night Tillman and I survived our first (and hopefully last) tornado together. I knew there was a pretty bad storm going on outside, but no alerts ever flashed up on the tv. Then, the tv signal went out and there were huge gusting winds. The house felt like it was about to get lifted off the ground like in The Wizard of Oz. The winds last several seconds (about 20) then that was it. All was quiet and calm, except for me. I happened to be holding Tillman on the couch at the time of the tornado. When it got really bad I wrapped my arms all around her and hovered over her until the gusts and shaking stopped.

Josh was at class; he's working on his master's degree. I sent him a text message and then he called me. He could tell I was shaken up, so he talked to his professor and left class early to come home and take care of us and the things strewn about in the yard. We lost some shingles, chairs got tossed, etc. We also had a Bradford Pear tree split in half and fall down. The worst of it all was the shed. It got twisted, tossed, and kind of smashed. An entire side came off and everything inside is in shambles. My bike tire got bent, along with many other smaller items that are no longer usable. Josh got right on the phone with our insurance people to handle everything and make a damage claim. A guy is coming tomorrow to assess the damage and work out all the details.

Long story short: We are all okay and that's all that matters!
