1st on the list is moon sand. It is a mixture of flour and baby oil. The "sand" can be sprinkled or clumped together to make a solid figure. Oh, and it smells good too.
Our 2nd activity did not have an official name, but we called it "colorful fizzy fun" based of the description from Pinterest. We lined a pan with baking soda and had 4 containers of vinegar and food coloring. Then you use a dropper and drop the liquid onto the food coloring and it fizzes and bubbles up. I was actually pretty impressed with this one myself.
The last activity of the day was liquid sidewalk chalk. We used a mixture of water and cornstarch along with food coloring to make 4 paints to use. This one was neat because once the paint hit the sidewalk it solidified. You couldn't smear it or move it at all. We started off using some brushes that honestly were just not cut out for the job. So we ended up just using the plastic spoons that I had used to stir the food coloring to "place" and scatter the paint around.
Little butter basting brush? Or big, huge BBQ basting brush? Hmmm....
This one's for you, Nanny.
"You are my sunshine."
And this is how we cleaned up afterwards. I promise I don't give her these ideas. They are all original.
And in other unrelated news, I got new glasses!
