It's amazing the difference in the activities Tillman is able to do this summer versus what she could do last year. I think Josh and I feel like we have some of our lives back. We were not good about getting out and doing things last year. This is partially because I was such a stickler about T's schedule, and also, there wasn't a whole lot she could actively participate in. Now, all she wants to do is go, go, go, which helps Josh and I go, go, go too.
So here's what we've been busy with since the last post:
Saturday & Sunday I became completely obsessed with cooking and making meals to fill the freezer. "Fill the freezer" is actually an activity on our (my) summer bucket list. I know things will get hectic soon enough when school and football (Liberty & Clemson) start back up, so I wanted to be prepared on those nights that get crazy or I'm just too exhausted to make something.
I turned this ...
into this...
So I set off on a 2-day adventure to cook and prepare as many meals as possible. I planned for and bought ingredients for 12 meals; keep in mind 1 meal is more like 2-4 meals for us. So 12 meals is really like 36 meals. I ended up making 11 of the 12 meals. I haven't gotten to the chicken pot pie yet. I just got distracted with other obsessions. So far I have made: spaghetti, lasgna, manicotti, buffalo chicken, crockpot chicken salsa, baked potato soup, chicken cordon bleu, cheesy chicken and rice, chili, vegetable soup, and chicken tetrazinni.
Monday T & I went to the Moms & Tots class at the YMCA. Then we went to dinner with some friends from Sunday School to discuss some business. :)
Yesterday we finger painted and made a birthday card for Grandpa. His birthday was Tuesday. I can't show you the picture yet, because he won't receive the card until tomorrow and I don't want to ruin the surprise. However, I will share with you some of the pictures from T's "free paint" time.
Excited about painting! I love this apron/smock from my aunt and uncle.
And....we're off! Busy mixing colors, painting the paper, the counters, the tower, whatever she can get her hands on.
I've also become obsessed with a few other things/projects lately. And by obsessed, I mean staying up until 1:00am working on things...and I don't stay up late, ever. 10:00pm is my norm. I bought T's Halloween costume ($4.00!), started working on birthday decorations (so excited!), and started making some Christmas craft projects for T (super cute). This is the perfect time, right? Christmas in July... I also feel like I have to take advantage of the time while I have it. Again, pictures on these projects will have to wait...
And, this is an amazing picture my uncle, Dan shared on Facebook. This is my wonderful Grandpa doing one of his favorite hobbies, wood-working. This picture almost brought me to tears. I just know how absolutely happy this made my Grandpa and I'm so thankful Dan took the time out of his day to share his time with Grandpa and share some special time together.
So the story of our summer lives continues; we're back on the road tomorrow. We're headed to Durham for some Franks Family Fun. See you again Sunday, if I have the time/energy to blog about our trip. I hope you are enjoying your days as much as I am enjoying mine!! :)
