Rambling (Wo)Man

I haven't blogged in about a week, and as is the trend lately, there's been a lot going on our way. So, I went ahead and titled this post, "Rambling Woman" b/c I'm pretty sure some of you will skip all the reading and just scroll through the pictures. I type it as I think it, and my mind is always racing. See, already I'm rambling.

Let's get to it.

Tillman quickly noticed some of the new decor that was pictured in the last post. She likes to empty the crate of its contents so she can get in it herself.

We went shopping and were trying to entertain her by letting her sit in a deep royal purple velour chair, of which you can't even see b/c she's so big. Oh, and she usually wears shoes and a bow, but she's been bad about pulling her bows out lately and she's still growing into the pair of shoes that went with this outfit.

We had to get creative and use the magnets on a cookie sheet b/c these are cheap-o magnets and the plastic part was starting to leave scratch marks on the stainless steel appliances. Oops!

Daddy/daughter time.

This week I felt inspired and motivated to try and tackle some new recipes to see what we could add to our list of favorites. Dinner Monday-Thursday were all new recipes found on Pinterest. Friday night I cooked, but it wasn't Pinterest-inspired, so I didn't feel the need to document it.

Monday - Chicken cordon bleu casserole
Josh and I both really liked this meal. As you can see, it made enough to put two dishes in the freezer for quick and easy meals in the future.

Tuesday - Crispy Southwest Chicken Wraps
I really liked this one a lot. It doesn't look like much from the picture, but it was delicious. We used spinach wraps, rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, chicken, seasonings, etc.

Wednesday - Chicken roll-ups
These were alright. I would try these again, but I would alter a few things about them first.

Thursday - Tomato basil tortellini soup
(don't know how the picture got turned)
This was Josh's favorite of the week. I liked it too, just not as much as he did. Again, I might alter this just a tad next time. This also made enough to put two dishes in the freezer for the future.

As I mentioned earlier, Friday night I cooked, but nothing new. We had company coming into town (Ana, Jade, and Baby Girl Hill) so I wanted to make something I knew would go over well. I made pot roast, baked potatoes, corn casserole, and rolls. Ana and Jade came into town so we could go to Switch-a-Roos, a huge baby consignment sale in Greenville that Josh and I have frequented many times and highly recommend. We also went to Babies-R-Us so I could "help" Ana and Jade with their baby registry. I say "help" b/c I just walked around and said, "I would do this....You need to do this...." At one point, Josh pulled me aside and reminded me to chill out a little bit and just give suggestions, not orders. I am beyond excited that they are expecting a little one, even more excited that it's a girl, and thrilled that I get to be a part of helping to prepare for this little bundle of joy. And I must tell you now that I am SO upset that we didn't capture ANY pictures together of this weekend. I'm so disappointed in myself. Humph!  Memories were made, just not captured on film.

Friday afternoon, piddling in the yard until Ana and Jade arrived.  This is Josh's, "You better sit down, " look to Tillman.

"Whee!" She loved it! and rode this way the entire way back up to the house from down near the pond at the base of the land.

Tillman learned a lesson this week - When babies run too fast on the cement, they fall. When they fall, they end up with badly scratched noses. The picture doesn't quite capture the injury, but we've been putting Neosporin on it frequently and it looks worse than it really is.

*** Random tangent from a rambling woman***
This is the office we've been working on the past week. Before we showed it to Ana and Jade, I asked her if she remembered what it looked like the last time she was here. Her response, "I think just a room full of boxes."  This is what we've done with the place since then:

Making some progress on the shelving unit in our bedroom. The "C" in the middle on the top is from Hobby Lobby. Josh spray painted it a cream color. He also found the "Granny Smith" green apple at Marshall's since we are both teachers. It's also just kind of cool looking anways.

This won't mean much to any of you, but I re-covered the night stands in our bedroom with a sage green burlap fabric to go with our new sheets and bedding. The original stands had glass tops. I went to Lowe's and had them cut some wood to fit in place of the glass. Then I covered the wood with fabric.

***Back to this weekend...***
Friday evening, when Ana and Jade got in, we ate dinner, got caught up on everything baby, stayed entertained by Tillman until she went to bed, etc. After Tillman went down for the night, Ana and I went through some of Tillman's baby clothes (so weird to say that b/c I still consider her my baby) so Baby Hill could get a little head start on her wardrobe. Then we came up with a game plan for Saturday.

Today, we got up bright and early and headed to Greenville for the Switch-A-Roos Consignment Sale. I was honestly a little worried that Ana and Jade wouldn't buy much or wouldn't be as "in to it" as Josh and I get b/c Josh and I both love to shop and Ana and Jade don't. But I must tell you, they both out-lasted me and racked up with some good finds. I'm really glad it was a successful event for all parties involved.
Switch-a-Roos Consignment

Here's a glimpse of what Tillman ended up with:

2 of these trucks are new as of today - she already had the other 2

some new clothes for the spring/summer months - plus some books I didn't capture

...and this AMAZING white smocked dress with palm trees & pineapples!!! love, love, love this! Can we say Easter dress, family beach pictures this summer, and any other important social event that may come up as long as this dress fits her?!?!

After checking out at Switch-A-Roos, we ate lunch at Chic-Fil-A, then headed to Babies-R-Us to add some things to Ana and Jade's registry. We literally walked every inch of the store to get it all in.  I hope it was helpful, and not just me being so excited and blabbing the whole time. I must admit, it was nice to stroll the isles and think back to when we did this ourselves in anticipation of Tillman's arrival. We don't go to Babies-R-Us anymore; now it's Toys-R-Us.
BABIES''R''US

"What is that mark?" you might be asking yourself. Oh, that's where Josh and Tillman were playing on the couch and she fell TEETH first into his face. Yes, those are the marks of Tillman's two front teeth on Josh's face. Those two rough house just a little too much for my comfort zone already. There's no telling what's in store for our future. Better stock up on the band-aids now.

Well, for those of you who actually sat down and read every word of this post, I first thank you, and I secondly apologize to be so long-winded and promise to do better to blog throughout the week so it doesn't all hit in one post.

Until the next big event...
